Resolute Bay man charged with firearms offences after shots fired

The RCMP has arrested a charged a man from Resolute Bay after he fired several rounds toward two individuals.

On October 6, 2019, at approximately 11:30 p.m. the Resolute Bay RCMP responded to a man who had
shot several rounds within the community.

The investigation revealed that Solomon Idlout, age 35, got into a physical altercation with several other
people. Idlout returned to his residence and emerged a short time later with a long gun, according to the RCMP.

Idlout then fired several rounds toward two individuals, however, there were no injuries or damage to property, the RCMP says.

Idlout has been charged with 18 criminal offences including assault with a weapon x 2, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm, discharge a firearm with intent x 2, common nuisance endangering life, failure to comply with a recognizance x 2 and failure to comply with weapons
prohibition x 9.

Idlout was remanded into custody after a bail hearing and his next court appearance is on October 23, 2019 at Resolute Bay.
