Male sent to hospital following Gitzel Street assault

One male was sent to the hospital over the weekend after being struck in the head with a coffee cup.

The RCMP and Yellowknife Emergency Medical Services received a call for service early Saturday morning from a tenant, who stated there were two men fighting inside another unit at Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel Street.

“At approximately 5:20 a.m., on Saturday, October 5, the Yellowknife RCMP received a call for service regarding an unrelated file at an apartment building on Gitzel Street,” Plourde said. “Upon arrival on-site, the RCMP found one man with a non-life threatening injury.”

Plourde says the man was transported by EMS to the hospital.

No arrest has been made and the investigation is ongoing.
