Suspect charged with Attempted Murder after Tuktoyaktuk shooting

A man is charged with Attempted Murder and other charges after a shooting incident in Tuktoyaktuk.

At approximately 8:50 p.m., on Sunday, September 22, 2019, Tuktoyaktuk RCMP received a call for service about an incident involving a firearm outside, in front of a residence.

Upon arriving on scene, RCMP found a 43-year-old man inside a nearby residence with a non-life threatening injury. The man was transported to Inuvik Regional Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. Tuktoyaktuk RCMP located the suspect shortly after in the vicinity.

As a result of the investigation, Tuktoyaktuk RCMP arrested and charged Michael Robert Gruben, 38-year-old from Tuktoyaktuk, NT, with:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Uttering Threats
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

Michael Robert Gruben is remanded in custody and is scheduled to be in court in Yellowknife on October 1, 2019.
