Reality TV hunter fined for illegal hunt in NWT

Yellowknife, NWT – A report this morning says the founder and host of a reality TV hunting show has been fined $8,000 for possessing two muskox and a bison, illegally hunted in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

In March of 2003, Thomas Pigeon came to the N.W.T for his show “Canada in the Rough.”

But crews reportedly drove their vehicles too close to the animals.

Investigators reportedly used video footage to make their case.

It’s illegal to use vehicles within 1.5 kilometres of an animal for the purpose of hunting in the Northwest Territories.

The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources says video footage shows muskox being herded by guides using snowmobiles so that Pigeon can shoot them.

The N.W.T. Environment and Natural Resources Department reportedly helped with the investigation.
