RCMP confirm another overnight assault in downtown Yellowknife

One resident in Yellowknife woke up terrified last night to screaming outside his apartment. The witness says there was a woman who was being attacked by a man and she was covered in blood.

“The man was beating a woman outside Fraser Arms Apartments at about 3 a.m.,” the witness stated. “I could hear the woman scream get off me and by the time I got out to my window, there were some people there who scared the man off.”
The witness says the woman fled the area but people who also witnessed the attack described her face as fully bloody.
“The RCMP came to patrol the area,” the witness said. “I saw them grab someone out by Fraser Arms East, but not sure if it was the attacker or unrelated. “
Julie Plourde is the Media Relations Officer with the Northwest Territories RCMP in Yellowknife, NT.
“At approximately 3:17 a.m., on Friday, September 13, Yellowknife RCMP received a call for service on 52 Street, in downtown Yellowknife, regarding a dispute between a group of people,” Plourde said. “No arrest has been made and the investigation is ongoing.”
The witness says he will never forget waking up to the screams and may have trouble sleeping tonight.
