Fort McPherson RCMP seize large amount of alcohol

The RCMP in Fort McPherson stopped 144 bottles of liquor from entering the community, where alcohol is restricted under the NWT Liquor Act.

On August 30, 2019, Fort McPherson RCMP received information regarding a large amount of alcohol being brought into the community.

The RCMP obtained and executed a search of a vehicle under the NWT Liquor Act and members were able to seize 144 bottles of alcohol of various types and sizes from a vehicle.

“This seizure helps in reducing the harm caused by illegal alcohol in the community,” Sgt.. Mark Bishop, Detachment Commander of Fort McPherson RCMP said. “The alleged sale of illegal alcohol is concerning, as vulnerable members of our society may be more at risk to this activity.”

The investigation is still ongoing.
