Investigation into 2017 RCMP car incident ended

The results of an external investigation into an incident involving Yellowknife RCMP and a Yellowknife resident has concluded.

On the early morning of July 10th, 2017 a 35-year-old Yellowknife man reached for a moving RCMP vehicle on 48th Street. The resident was injured when his arm collided with the moving vehicle and was sent to Stanton Territorial Hospital, followed by a trip to the hospital in Edmonton.

As an RCMP member and vehicle were involved in the incident, the Northwest Territories RCMP requested assistance from an external agency for investigative oversight.

NT RCMP Major Crimes Unit conducted the investigation and the investigation was reviewed by Medicine Hat Police Services, who supported it.
