Debbie Molloy has been appointed as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission for a five-year term, effective Monday, August 12th.
David Tucker, Chair of the Governance Council of the WSCC, stated that Molloy has a fantastic blend of skills that will help drive the WSCC forward.
“She’s a proven leader and I know her talents, passion, and vision make a great addition to our organization.”
A media release from the WSCC pointed out that Molloy brings over 25 years of progressive executive leadership experience. It continued by saying that Malloy has extensive experience in health services and the energy sector, with a strong background in strategic planning, occupational health and safety, and organizational effectiveness.
Molloy most recently served as the Vice-President of Corporate Services for Eastern Health, in St. John’s, where she provided senior leadership to an organization with 13,000 employees, 750 physicians, 2,200 volunteers, 900 students and serving a population of 300,000.
Following the departure of Dave Grundy on May 3rd, Kim Collins Riffel served as the Interim Acting President. Tucker noted that Kim kept the WSCC steady over the last four months, and helped ensure a smooth transition in leadership.
“Her insight and reliability were invaluable during this evolution period, and we thank her for that.”
The WSCC oversees operations in both the NWT and Nunavut, with offices in Yellowknife, Inuvik, and Iqaluit.
