Knife-wielding man robs Yk convenience store

Police say a man ‘wielding a knife’ entered the Circle K Convenience store on Franklin Ave. and Forrest Dr. late Thursday night, demanding cash from the clerk.

No one was injured during the alleged robbery which took place late Thursday, June 6th. Police came to the scene shortly after 12 a.m. June 7th.

RCMP are now in search of a suspect they describe as 5 feet 10 inches tall, ‘with a slender build and darker complexion.’ Police say the suspect was wearing a hooded black coat or sweater at the time.

This is the second time this year the store has been robbed. The first robbery occured in January, the suspect was also armed with a knife.

The robbery follows at least four robberies at Yellowknife-area convenience stores since the start of 2019.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area of Circle K in the early hours of Friday to contact them via the Yellowknife RCMP detachment (867-765-3900) or anonymously through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-TIPS (8477)).
