Update: No injuries after house fire below Pilots Monument

Yellowknife crews were seen fighting a structure fire at 3509 Ingraham Drive in Old Town on June 4th. A house on the side of the hill, just below Pilots Monument burst into flames at approximately 4:50 p.m.

The Fire Division responded with a duty crew of 6 personnel on Pump 1, Tanker 1, and Medic 7. On arrival to the scene, the crew noted a single story, approximately 1000 square foot single family dwelling fully engulfed in flames with smoke coming out of the eves. Evacuation had already taken place.

The majority of the damage was noted in the center of the home. No injuries were reported.

16 fire personnel were on scene for roughly three hours. Municipal Enforcement and RCMP assisted in traffic and crowd control.

The NWT Office of the Fire Marshall is leading an investigation into the cause of the fire.

A fundraiser for the family who lived in the home has raised over $5,500 in the two hours since the page was created.
