Deh Cho MLA Michael Nadli charged with Fort Prov assault

Deh Cho MLA Michael Nadli has been arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm after an incident in his home town of Fort Providence.

The 50-year-old politician, whose full name is Michael Maurice Nadli, is alleged to have assaulted an unnamed victim at a residence in the town on Sunday afternoon.

Police say Nadli had left the scene by the time they arrived, but he later turned himself in. The victim was taken to the town’s health centre for treatment.

Nadli has been remanded to custody ahead of his next court appearance, on Wednesday.

He has been the Deh Cho MLA since 2011.
