Power 90 per cent restored in downtown Yellowknife

Power has been 90 per cent restored after an outage Thursday affected parts of downtown Yellowknife and Forrest Drive.

Operations manager with Northland Utilities Daryl Fetaz says the power has been restored to all but two customers, one of those is the Centre Square Mall, after an outage around 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The outage, which Fetaz suspects is caused by an equipment issue, affected 662 customers mostly in the downtown area on the east side of Franklin Avenue.

Fetaz says Northland may switch the power off a second time today, as they are in the middle of testing, however this would be a quick five minute outage.
