NWT Coroner confirms Fort Liard man not killed by bear

The NWT Coroner Service has concluded that the sudden death of Floyd Diamond’C, whose body was found on May 8th in Big Creek near Fort Liard, was not caused by a bear attack.

The Coroner Service added that they have not yet received the final autopsy results and that there was extensive post-mortem animal scavenging.

Mr. Diamond’C was last seen on April 24th in Fort Liard, his body was found by a family member who was on their way to visit him at the cabin.

The investigation is still ongoing with the assistance from the RCMP and Environmental and Natural Resources.
