North Alberta wildfire isn’t getting closer to High Level but is still growing

It will be more than the three days initially predicted until evacuees from High Level can return home. CTV reported while the wildfire hasn’t gotten closer to the Northern Alberta town, it has grown to 92,000 hectares. The hospital is one of the closest buildings to the fire and crews are using controlled burns to try and prevent the blaze from getting closer.

International tourism boosting temporary visas in Canada

Temporary visa applications have over quadrupled in Canada since 2015. A federal report said the increase is making it tough for the Immigration Department to process them all. Almost 6 million temporary visas were issued in 2018 which was up over a million from 2017. The surge is due to an increase in international tourism.

Teresa May to decide her own fate Friday 

British Prime Minister Teresa May has been given an ultimatum to either resign or risk being replaced in a leadership vote. Conservative lawmakers in the UK are giving May until Friday to make a decision. She recently abandoned plans to ask Parliament’s support for a Brexit bill already rejected by most of her party.

While data collected by the centre for climate change shows that water levels remain low in most rivers and lakes across the territory, scientists predict it will likely change for some major waterways this spring. Looking at snowpack measures, data showed that water levels are forecasted to rise above average across much of the western and southern Mackenzie River Basin.
