Man arrested and charged in Inuvik stabbing

Inuvik RCMP arrested a 39-year-old man from Inuvik as a result of an investigation following a complaint of an altercation in the community in the early hours of Friday, May 10th.

Inuvik RCMP attended the area of Union Street in Inuvik that morning and located a man who appeared to have been injured with an edged weapon during an altercation. The man was transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The man is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault, one count of Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Breach of Undertaking.

Inuvik RCMP thanks the public in regards to the call for public assistance.

The Northwest Territories department of Infrastructure has issued a closure caution for the Dettah Ice Road, for an anticipated Friday closure. According to the message posted on Wednesday on social media and the Drive NWT website, the road “may occur earlier as conditions continue to deteriorate.”
