Be ready for your phones to vibrate and emit a loud alarm as the GNWT tests the Alert Ready system this Wednesday.

The test is set for Wednesday, May 8th at 1:55 p.m. The government says the test may be seen and heard on cell phones, radio stations and cable networks. However, not all NWT residents will get the test alert for a number of reasons ‘including device compatibility, connection to an LTE network, cell tower coverage, device software and settings.’

The NWT Alert Ready system, in testing mode, is part of a country-wide emergency and disaster alert system. The system is set to be fully completed testing sometime this year.
