Investigators heading to Buffalo Airways forced landing site

A team of investigators from the Transportation Safety Board will be heading to the site of a forced landing of a Buffalo Airways plane in Hay River.

The DC-3 plane took off from Merlyn Carter airport at 7:41 a.m. Friday morning, experiencing engine failure shortly after take-off.

The plane then landed off of the airport runway, 6 miles southeast of the airport according to information received by the Transportation Safety Board.

The board cannot assign fault or determine liability, it’s sole purpose is to investigate and draw conclusions to advance transportation safety.
