Two men have been charged with possession after unusual activity at a Yellowknife apartment building was reported to the RCMP.
Police say members of the RCMP’s Federal Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at a Yellowknife apartment building Tuesday. They arrested five people and seized what they believe to be 110 grams of cocaine and 168 grams hashish.
A 64-year-old man from Yellowknife and a 49-year-old man from Yellowknife and B.C. have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime. The 64-year-old is also charged with breach of probation.
Staff sergeant Dean Riou, who is the officer in charge of the federal unit, says it was a report from the public that pointed police in the direction of the apartment.
“RCMP thanks the public for reporting unusual activity within a residential building in Yellowknife, allowing us to enter into an investigation and ultimately removing the illicit drugs from the market and holding those involved in the illegal activity accountable.”
