Update: Yellowknife RCMP has found the travellers who were reported overdue and believed to be in the Mackay Lake area.

All the located travellers have been returned safely. Details will be provided when more information is available.

Police are involved in a search and rescue operation in the Mackay Lake area.

“RCMP have deployed via helicopter to the Mackay Lake area,” a police update Tuesday afternoon states. “A group of travellers has been located and RCMP are in the process of extracting them.”

It is unclear at this point whether RCMP are searching for additional people than those who have been located.

RCMP say they will update the public when more information is available.
