Police investigate highrise fire, ask for public assistance

Hay River RCMP are asking the public to share any information they might have in relation to a fire at the Hay River highrise.

A fire started at the Mackenzie Place highrise, the tallest structure in the NWT, Friday afternoon. All 135 people living in the building were evacuated.

Police are now investigating the fire. They asking anyone with information – including photos and videos- to share those with police.

“What may seem like a regular photo could provide valuable information to this investigation,” says Cst. Heather Cosenzo with the NWT RCMP.

To share information, photos or video with police, contact RCMP G Division Major Crimes Unit at 867-669-1111 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
