Yellowknife RCMP looking for robbery suspects

An alleged robbery occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on March 12th at downtown Sunlines on the corner of 43 St and Franklin Ave. according to the Yellowknife RCMP. The RCMP is looking for help in obtaining the suspects.

Allegedly two male suspects entered the store and approached the cashier, accessed the store cash register and took an undisclosed amount of cash. The cashier was not physically injured in the process and the suspects fled on foot.

Both suspects were masked so physical descriptions were not able to be provided. At this time there are no photos of suspects available.

Yellowknife RCMP were supported by the General Investigative Section in conducting patrols of the area, which did not yield a suspect. The NWT RCMP Forensic Identification Service attended the scene as well.

This is the fourth reported alleged robbery in Yellowknife to date for 2019. One involved a bank institution and the other three convenience stores. Marie York-Condon, NWT RCMP Media Relations states there is no evidence to indicate any of the alleged robberies are linked and that each one is being investigated individually.

“We want to assure the public that there is no indication that there is a general public safety risk in relation to the alleged robbery attempts. We are thankful there have been no reported injuries in relation to these serious crimes.”

The public is asked to advise the Yellowknife RCMP if they witnessed any of the incident or subsequent suspicious activity in the area of 43 St, off of Franklin Ave St.
