Police investigate ‘sudden death’ in Fort Providence

After a missing man was located deceased in the community of Fort Providence, police say they are investigating his death.

Fort Providence RCMP say they received a report of a missing man Tuesday at around 9:45 p.m.

“RCMP were directed to a vehicle believed to belong to the missing person and a search commenced from the location. Due to failing light conditions the search was ended until morning,” spokesperson Marie York-Condon says.

Thursday morning the police continued their search with the help of RCMP Police Dog Services. At 11:20 a.m. police say they found the missing man, deceased.

Both the RCMP and the NWT Coroners Service are investigating what they are calling a ‘sudden death.’
