Yellowknifers throw over $42K in Christmas kettles

Thanks to the generosity of locals, the Yellowknife Salvation Army met and exceeded their 2018 Christmas Kettle campaign goal.

A total of $42,886 was raised, just sneaking over the $42,000 goal.

The Salvation Army says the money stays in the territory to support among other things the food bank, recovery, shelter and community dinners.

“(We) were able to provide Christmas hampers in both Yellowknife and the Communities of the NWT, to over 480 households. We also provided toys to over 240 children this holiday season,” corps leader Jason Brinson states in a news release.
