Yellowknife to ring in New Year with fireworks show

The City of Yellowknife is ringing in 2019 with a fireworks display. The show will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31st.

Mayor Rebecca Alty is encouraging all residents to join the fun and celebrate the evening with family and friends.

“We are really excited to see a dazzling fireworks show this year.”

Yellowknifers can view the fireworks from the perimeter of Frame Lake including Somba K’e Civic Plaza while respecting the following safety protocols:

  • Stay on the perimeter of Frame Lake. Don’t approach the area where the fireworks are set off or the safety zone downrange of the fireworks;
  • Leave your pets at home;
  • Stay clear of the safety zone and fireworks area until noon on January 1st by which time the fireworks crew will have completed a safety inspection.
