RCMP find gun safe, firearms in woods

RCMP has conducted a search in the woods after the report of an abandoned gun safe. RCMP received the report on October 27th of a gun safe seen in the wooded area between Niven sub-division and the GNWT Legislative Assembly Building. RCMP requested assistance on a grid search from Yellowknife Ground Search and Rescue who were conducting exercises that day.

With the assistance of YKSAR, RCMP discovered items related to the theft of firearms from a Haener property the evening of October 16th. Firearms, including long guns, tools, and two gun safes were recovered. Several firearms, including handguns remain outstanding.
