Flu season has returned to NWT

Flu season is upon us. With this, GNWT Health and Social Services has announced flu shot clinics to help the public vaccinate. Yellowknife’s first clinic will be on November 1st at Northern United Place from 1 p.m. till 6 p.m. The flu shot is provided free to residents aged 6 months or older. The Health and Services website warns that high risk residents include children between 6 months and 5 years of age, pregnant women, adults 65 and older, individuals extremely overweight, individuals living in chronic care facilities, regardless of age and individuals of any age with chronic medical conditions. No appointment is required to get a flu shot at the public clinics in Aklavik, Behchoko, Deline, Enterprise, Colville Lake, Fort Good Hope, Fort Providence, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Hay River, Inuvik, Jean Marie River, Nahanni Butte, Norman Wells, Sachs Harbour, Sambaa K’e, Weweeti, Wrigley and Yellowknife.

UPDATE: Nine people dead following school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.

RCMP have updated their report to say nine people have died following a school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., which is located about 400 kilometres north east of Prince George. Mounties received a report of an active shooter at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School around 1:20 this afternoon (Mountain Time Tuesday). A Police Initiated Public Alert was issued as officers responded to the scene.
