Ingraham Trail will NOT be used as an airstrip tomorrow, military says

The military says it is not conducting an exercise on Ingraham Trail after the territorial government issued a press release about it on Wednesday.

The territorial government sent out an advisory Wednesday afternoon warning drivers to expect delays as part of the highway would be used for a military exercise.

The Royal Canadian Air Force’s 440 Squadron would be using the highway for aircraft take-off and landing training tomorrow between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m, the government release says.

But the military says they aren’t conducting an exercise on the highway.

“Ingraham trail will not be used as an airstrip on 20 September 2018 by 440 (Transport) squadron,” says Captain Soomin Kim, a public affairs officer for Joint Task Force North in an email.

“The public has been misinformed. We are working towards to correct this misinformation.”
