Aquatic Centre open house to be held this week

The Aquatic Centre Advisory Committee (ACAC) is holdingĀ an open house this week.

The open house will be held this Thursday, September 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the PSAV room at the Multiplex.

The purpose of the open house is toĀ share the work the Committee has done to date and get feedback from residents on Aquatic Centre concepts that will be presented.

Opened in 1988, the Ruth Inch Memorial Pool (RIMP), has reached the end of its useful lifespan and there are greater demands on the facility because of growth in Yellowknife and demands from user groups. Guided by input from the ACAC, the City is completing an aquatic centre pre-design plan.

The Aquatic Centre Advisory Committee is comprised of individuals representing a wide range of user groups and is chaired by city councillor Niels Konge.

ā€œWe are very cognizant of the wide range of users of our pool and we are taking every effort to ensure we consider all ideas, including the location of the proposed aquatic centre, as we plan for construction,” says Councillor Konge in a statement.

“It is important we hear from residents at each step of the planning process.”

An online opportunity to provide input and feedback will also be available from September 20 to 25 through the Cityā€™s website, www.yellowknife.ca.
