RCMP lay charges in Wekweeti firearm incident

Northwest Territories RCMP have charged a 23-year-old man in relation to an incident involving a firearm in the community of Wekweéti a week ago.

RCMP got a call about a man with a firearm in the community last Wednesday.

“The details are part of an ongoing investigation, but the nature of the complaint indicated the male could possibly cause potential harm within the community,” a news release about the incident states.

RCMP responded that evening by flying members into the community. A man was taken into custody the next day and transported to Yellowknife on Friday.
