Yellowknife third most Instagrammable place in Canada

Yellowknife has been named the third most Instagram-worthy place in Canada, according to a recent article from expedia.ca.

The capital of the Northwest Territories comes in third behind Thunder Bay, Ontario and Sherbrooke, Quebec as one of the most Instagrammable places in the country.

“Yellowknife is the best place for you to discover what the frontier spirit really is,” the article states. “For first-time NWT rookies, Arctic Tours Canada is a great introduction to your vacation. You can get some cute woofer photos on a dog sledding tour, or some of the best night photography when you see the Northern Lights. NWT Brewing Co. is also found in this quaint town. The brewery uses locally-grown grains and some of the purest water in the world infused with the “can-do, make-do” spirit of the North.”

To determine the most Instagrammable places in Canada, the writer used “social listening”, which is the process of monitoring digital conversations around specific topics, keywords, phrases. This process was used to see which areas came up the most, using hashtags like #nofilter #instagramworthy and #instagrammable.

“Yellowknife was one of the most hashtagged places in Canada with hashtags like #nofilter, #instagramworthy and #instagrammable,” says writer Karli Maudlin.

“The beautiful dogsledding videos and lantern-lit teepees would make any Instagram follower gawk.”

Maudlin recommends Somba K’e Park and Cameron Falls as spots for photos in and near Yellowknife.
