Win Your Space YK top five to be announced tomorrow

The final five finalists of this year’s Win Your Space YK competition will be announced tomorrow.

Win Your Space YK is a business incubation competition that aims to inspire Yellowknifers to start or expand their business, as well as revitalizing the downtown area, which currently shows the highest commercial vacancy rate in the city.

After evaluating the business plans submitted by 13 semi-finalists, five finalists will advance to the last stage of the competition which will see the contenders pitch their business ideas live in front of the Jury, and the winner will be announced.

“Over the summer, the 13 semi-finalists have attended business development workshops in preparation of submitting their business plan to the Win Your Space YK jury, and I am excited to see which entrepreneurs will advance to the Grand finale next week,” says Mayor Heyck.

The five finalists will be announced at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Ja-Pain Bakery, which won the competition last year.

The Grand Finale of the competition will take place Thursday August 23 at 5:00 P.M. in the Council Chamber at City Hall.
