Missing Behchoko man found dead

Behchoko RCMP are reporting the body of 21-year-old Jermaine Joe Camsell was found in Marion Lake near Behchoko yesterday.

The RCMP worked with multiple agencies, volunteers and members of Jermaine’s family in a marine, air, and ground search since he was reported missing on Sunday. The RCMP asked for the public’s help finding him on Tuesday.

Jermaine Camsell was located in Marion Lake yesterday evening, the RCMP announced in a press release today.  Behchoko Search and Rescue and RCMP attended the scene and recovered the body.  He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The NWT Coroner Service has ordered a post-mortem examination.  RCMP are assisting the NWT Coroner Service with their investigation.

“The RCMP would like to thank the volunteers, Behchoko Search and Rescue, GNWT Department of Environment and Natural Resources, forestry crew, Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA), Community Government of Behchoko,  Yellowknife Ground Search and Rescue and all agencies that assisted with the search,” the press release states.

“Our condolences to the family.”
