Missing man found dead in Mackenzie River

Norman Wells RCMP have found Howard Blondin’s body in the Mackenzie River outside Norman Wells.

RCMP asked for the public’s help finding him after he was reported missing on Tuesday last week.

In partnership with other agencies and volunteers from surrounding communities, the RCMP conducted a multi-day search by foot, ATV, water, and air.  Blondin was found in the Mackenzie River and pronounced dead on the scene.

A post-mortem examination has been ordered by the NWT Coroner Service.

The RCMP would like to thank all the volunteers and organizations that helped out with the search and provided many man hours and in some cases their own personal equipment such as boats and ATVs.
