Norman Wells RCMP seek public’s help to find missing man

Norman Wells RCMP are seeking the public’s help to locate 39-year-old Howard Blondin.

Howard is described as Indigenous (Metis),190 cm/6’2” tall, 75 kg/165 lbs, medium build with blue eyes. He is believed to be wearing boots, jeans and a dark navy jacket.

Howard was last seen at a residence in Norman Wells on July 16, at approximately 8:00 pm.  Howard was reported missing at approximately 10:30 pm, July 17.

A ground, water and air search has been initiated in the community of Norman Wells.  The investigation has confirmed a red quad (ATV) that was found near the community dock in the MacKenzie River belonged to Howard.  This location is being used as the search point. However, RCMP advise that Howard could be anywhere in the community or surrounding vicinity.  He may also have travelled out of the area and may be in one of the communities nearby.

Norman Wells RCMP, Norman Wells Ground Search and Rescue Unit, local helicopter services (Sahtu Helicopters) and community volunteers, including family, are assisting with the search. Volunteers from Tulita and Fort Good Hope are also on site.

Northwest Territories RCMP Police Dog Services is en route to the community.

“We live in a beautiful but vast land, so searches can be difficult and require many resources,” states Marie York-Condon, NT RCMP Media Relations.

“The community of Norman Wells has rallied to assist in any way possible, as well as neighbouring communities.  The search continues.”
