RCMP lay murder charge in Fort McPherson death

Northwest Territories RCMP have laid a murder charge in relation to the death in Fort McPherson on Friday.

RCMP charged Darcy Nerysoo, 30 of Fort McPherson with second-degree murder on the same day. He was transported and placed in remand in Yellowknife on Saturday.

In the early morning on June 29, Fort McPherson RCMP responded to a call about an unresponsive adult male. The 32-year-old male was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

The Northwest Territories RCMP, in conjunction with the NWT Coroner Services, conducted an investigation into the death.  NT RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit travelled to the community and to assist with the investigation.

All support units, the Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services, have now travelled back from Fort McPherson.

Nerysoo remains in remand until his next court appearance in Yellowknife today, Tuesday, July 3.

The investigation continues, and no additional information is being released at this time RCMP say.
