City says Franklin construction on track despite rain

The City of Yellowknife says construction on Franklin Avenue is still on schedule, despite heavy rains that caused severe potholing last week.

Franklin Avenue has been closed between Reservoir Road and Forrest Drive for almost three weeks, while the city installs several service upgrades to the road, including a 350 metre section of sewer line upgrade, bus turnouts and street light upgrades.

The current detour on Franklin Ave. is anticipated to last one or two more weeks, at which point Franklin will be at least partially open to traffic, according to city officials.

Construction is anticipated to be complete by mid September.
