Construction season begins in Yellowknife

To further their shared goals of increasing housing supply and strengthening infrastructure, the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Government of Canada have entered into two agreements to provide over $655 million in housing and infrastructure. 

The Government of the Northwest Territories has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the NWT Art Centre Initiative (lead by the Friends of the Northwest Territories Art Gallery) to support the development of a non-commercial art gallery in the NWT.

The City of Yellowknife is alerting residents that some buildings and services in the city will have altered hours or be closed entirely this upcoming Monday for the Civic Holiday.

Planned ignitions operations at wildfire FS015, north of Wrigley and Hodgson Creek, have brought the fire up to an older fire break across the Hodgson Bridge. 

Environment Canada says heavy rains have passed for the Paulatuk region, after nearly 70 mm fell in a two-day period beginning Friday. That’s normally what the region would receive in total for the duration of the summer season and more than one third of its total precipitation per year on average.
