New restaurant in YK hopes to offer something unique

The mystery of the building on Range Lake is officially over.

Many residents wondered what establishment would take over the empty building at 484 Range Lake Road. Yellowknifers theorized resturants ranging from KFC to The Keg.

The answer was made clear a few months ago when Copperhouse Eatery + Lounge announced their plans to open up shop. The restaurant is locally-owned and looks to offer authentic southern-style BBQ, stone-fired pizza and will even offer vegetarian options, among other menu options. Co-owner Mark Henry says the idea of the restaurant came from wanting to add something special to the City he loves.

We looked at putting in a franchise operation, but it just didn’t feel right. We wanted to give Yellowknife something really special – an experience you can’t get anywhere else in the city.

Along with an impressive menu, Copperhouse will also tout a hi-tech, state-of-the-art Micro-Matic draft beer system.

Copperhouse will be able to hold up to 130 customers and is prepared to host small work conferences.

The restaurant opens today, with operating hours expected for Tuesday – Thursday (4:00pm – 10:00pm); Friday – Saturday (4:00pm – 11:00pm); and Sunday (4:00pm – 9:00pm). You can book reservations by emailing [email protected]. The restaurant requires you to include day, time, and number of people attending.
