Early morning vehicle fire in Yellowknife

The City of Yellowknife Fire Division put out a vehicle fire earlier this morning.

Fire crews were called to the parking lot of Beck Court apartments at roughly 3:00 am.

While on scene, personnel noted a newer model red SUV was fully involved and a newer model Chevrolet truck parked on the side of the red SUV had smoke coming out of the covered box. The red SUV had ignited gas leaking; it was flowing downhill under the half-ton truck and three other vehicles.

Fire personnel extinguished the flaming trail. Crew members were on scene for roughly one and a half hours.

Afterward, Yellowknife RCMP took over the investigation. The NWT Office of the Fire Marshall has been notified.
