INF advises more possible closures to winter roads

Another day, more possible winter road closures.

The increasingly warmer weather has caused the Department of Infrastructure to advise NWT residents that all Tłı̨chǫ winter roads will be restricted to night travel only. This means the roads will be closed from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm.

The restrictions will begin Friday.

If the weather continues to warm up as Spring continues, the winter roads may close for the season by the weekend.

On Wednesday, restrictions were announced for the Dettah ice road between Yellowknife and Dettah. Within a few hours, the road had closed for the season, citing progressive deep water along the shoreline.
