Fort Resolution RCMP seize homemade alcohol

A 67-year old man in Fort Resolution is facing charges of unlawful manufacture and sale of liquor.

On March 21st, Fort Resolution RCMP began an investigation into illegal alcohol manufacture and sale in the community. There had been several reports of people feeling ill after drinking homemade alcohol they had purchased. The next day, police executed a search warrant on a home in the community. Seventeen bottles of homemade alcohol were seized.

The NWT RCMP have issued a reminder to residents that “homemade liquor is often of very poor quality and has an unknown alcohol content. It is simply dangerous to consume.
