NTPC plans outages in Fort Smith

The Northwest Territories Power Corporation is advising customers in the Fort Smith area that planned power outages will be taking place on Sunday.

Fort Smith is currently co-hosting the Arctic Winter Games. The outages will take place after the Games have ended – meaning the AWG will not be impacted.

NTPC says customers within the Town of Fort Smith will not be affected by the outages. The first set of outages will run from 9:00 – 11:00 am on Sunday morning, affecting “Border Town, Fort Fitzgerald, the golf course and ski club.” The second set will take place from 1:00 – 3:00 pm on Sunday afternoon and will impact “Bell Rock and Salt River.

A spokesperson for the Power Corporation said the outages are “required to complete necessary maintenance work.
