A Yellowknife student is facing charges after a recent RCMP investigation at Range Lake North School.
A police investigation into a reported incident began on March 15th.
Yk1 confirmed the investigation led to the arrest of a student, via release. The student was also charged with three counts of uttering threats under the criminal code of Canada.
According to the Yellowknife School District, the unnamed student has since been released and has a scheduled court appearance on a later date. The student is also not allowed onto school property until a later date.
Media Relations for the Northwest Territories RCMP Marie York-Condon said in a released statement that all threats are taken seriously and the RCMP will act accordingly.
“The RCMP takes all threats to the safety and security of Canada and Canadians seriously and to determine their credibility, we must fully investigate each and every one of them.”
Yk1 says a safety plan has been created for the school and will be in place before the end of Spring Break.
