YK RCMP make arrest following suspicious activity

One man may be facing charges following an arrest in the downtown Yellowknife area.

On Tuesday morning, police observed suspicious activity near the corner of 50th Ave and 49th St. An investigation was conducted and resulted in the arrest of a man, as well as the seizure of a black duffel bag full of alcohol.

All in all, 16 – 750ml bottles of liquor, one 375ml bottle of vodka and cash were seized.

The man was later released. Charges are pending.

Northwest Territories RCMP Media Relations Marie York-Condon says the high quantity seizure of alcohol helps limit any risk to the community and surrounding areas.

The alleged sale of illegal alcohol is concerning, as vulnerable members of our society may be more at risk to this activity. This seizure helps in reducing the harm caused by illegal alcohol in our community.

Anyone with information they can provide in relation to this incident, or suspicious activity is asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at (867) 669 – 1111, or report anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 nwtnutips.com, click on “submit a web tip” text: nwtnutips to 274637.
