NWT Region adds North Slavey glossary to cancer treatment information

The Sahtu Region is widening its verbal range to help residents learn more about cancer.

Residents who speak in various dialects of North Slavey are able to now read up on treatment options.

The project was developed in partnership with the K’asho Got’ine Charter Community, the Tulita Dene Band, The Goba Group, along with the Government of the Northwest Territories, to help shorten the language barriers between doctors and patients.

The glossary was created by Lucy Ann Yakeleya and interpreter/translator Fibbie Tatti.

The glossary, with audio files, can be accessed at cancernwt.ca.
