$1 Million available through GNWT program

The Government of the Northwest Territories is now accepting applications for it’s Mining Incentive program.

$1 million is available through the program.  The money is for mining exploration companies in the Northwest Territories.

Prospectors can apply for up to $25 000 in funding, while Mining companies can apply for $200 000.

According to the GNWT, the program has been in high demand since being created in 2014.

Beyond”bear behaviour”: encounters driven by human impacts

Another bear has reportedly been killed after wandering in the Northlands area of Yellowknife. Last week, a black bear was killed by wildlife officials when deterrence efforts failed after it was spotted wandering through the residential area. Wildlife experts say multiple factors could be leading to bear encounters and much of it goes beyond "bear behaviour." Factors like deforestation from wildfires could be leading bears to seek out food in places further from their natural habitat.

GNWT enters into agreements with federal government on housing and infrastructure

To further their shared goals of increasing housing supply and strengthening infrastructure, the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Government of Canada have entered into two agreements to provide over $655 million in housing and infrastructure.
