City turns security cameras back on

The City of Yellowknife has turned it’s security cameras back on.

Last month, the City had shut off all security cameras on City property following controversial allegations aimed at MED manager Doug Gillard.

This week, City Council approved a Security Camera Policy, which is meant to develop guidelines for how security cameras will be used on City property.

The City says that in the month that the cameras were off, assessments of security cameras were done. The City then confirmed that security cameras located at the Yellowknife Public Library, Fieldhouse and Multiplex were reactivated as of yesterday, February 13th.

Additional cameras will be reactivated upon further actions.

CJCD has reached out to the City for more details.
