YK’s Stanton Hospital contractor files for protection

Around six thousand Canadian jobs could be at risk as U-K contractor Carillion has filed for creditor protection.

That extends to Yellowknife as the Canadian branch of the construction giant is responsible for maintenance contracts on a number of Canadian roadways, military facilities, and hospitals, including, Yellowknife’s Stanton Hospital project.

Carillion Canada said the creditor protection filing is not a bankruptcy or liquidation filing.

They say the decision was forced by the liquidation of its parent company.
