CMA adopts plan to potentially restore caribou numbers

A plan for saving the Dolphin and Union Caribou is close to being made.

The Northwest Territories Conference of Management Authorities (CMA) agreed to adopt the Management Plan for the Dolphin and Union Caribou in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

The Dolphin and Union Caribou (also known as simply the Dolphin-Union Carribou, as well as the Island Caribou) have been on the Species at Risk list since March 19, 2015 as a species of Special Concern.

The Minister of Environment and Natural Resources, Robert C. McLeod, has until March 31st to publish the plan.

The CMA then has until December 31st to find a way to put the plan into place.
