City employee faces assault allegations

Some serious allegations are being leveled at a Yellowknife city employee.

Media reports suggest that the complaints against the employee stem back to 2014. The employee in question is the manager of the Municipal Enforcement Division.

Former bylaw officers are accusing Doug Gillard of making inappropriate comments about female city staff, had officers hit in the groin and used closed circuit cameras to look at women.

A city official says there have never been cameras at the city pool. Officials also say the accusations have been investigated and steps were taken to address them, however stopped short of any further explanation.

None of these allegations have been proven in court.
